6. Interviews

KwikText provides a better way to handle interviews: Here's what KwikText looks like during an interview. The record is updated in the Composition Window as you click each response. The record can be printed, saved as text, and recalled later.

Here's what the template looks like:

I recommend that you start a new project for each group of interviews.

Create new template: Begin an interview template by listing the interview questions. List known alternative responses beneath. You can always add more later. If a question is open ended and you want to make sure the question is answered, add a reminder command. Add other template commands as appropriate.

Enter the data: Just click on appropriate responses to questions. They'll be added to your record.

How do you handle a response that is not in your list?

Alternative 1: Add the item into the template and resume the interview. After you change the template, click "Restore" to restore the nodes you've already selected.

Alternative 2: Type the response in the Content Window after you select category node. For example, If I want to add another language, but not to the template:
How do you supplement a response? Just type the additional material in the Content Window. For example, if a person only reads French, click the French node, then add, perhaps in parentheses, "reads only". If you have dictation equipment, click in the Content Window, then begin dictating.

Collect results: After completing an interview, you can print a report by clicking the "Print" button. If you need to polish your report, collect and paste it into a word processing document.
