8. Change Punctuation

When text is displayed in the Composition Window, and formatted for sentences, KwikText inserts punctuation between nodes you've selected. For example, if you create a simple list, KwikText inserts a comma between each selection, and a period at the end:

You can change the default punctuation by using the punctuation command: Add the desired punctuation, enclosed in angle brackets, at the end of the list:

If you want the last selected item to terminate differently than other selected items, add two punctuation commands. The first will apply to all selected nodes except the last. The second will apply to the last:

Categories are included in the Composition Window if the "show" outer command is used or if a node contains content as well as a label. If displayed, default punctuation for categories is a blank space:

You can change the default behavior by adding a punctuation command at the same indentation level as the category node:

You can override default punctuation or punctuation commands by adding desired punctuation directly to the node:

There are three special punctuation commands:
  1. <-> A minus sign adds a linefeed before the current line.
  2. <+> A plus sign adds a linefeed after the current line.
  3. <_> An underscore adds a space.
Punctuation commands do not show up when the template is displayed in the Template Window.

Troubleshooting
  1. Independent punctuation commands must be the last item in a list of nodes. If placed elsewhere, they will show up as a blank node in the tree and have no effect on punctuation:
