2. Projects
Everything you create in KwikText is stored in a project folder. The folder name is displayed in the project bar box.
Projects provide a way to organize your text material so it's easier to find and reuse. Place all material related to one topic in its own project. Here are some potential projects:
- Personal: For blocks of text you frequently use in correspondence and email, like your name, address, credit card numbers, and anything else you'd prefer not to have to retype.
- Bookmarks: To revisit sites you've visited, sites you want to visit sometime later, information about the site, specific web searches, id names and passwords, and anything else you might want to remember.
- Evaluations: For product or other types of evaluations. Create a separate project for each evaluation.
- Interviews/Examinations: For any type of interview. If you have different groups of people to interview each time, create a separate interview for each, otherwise all interviews can go in the same project.
- Surveys: For building and other types of surveys. Create a separate project for each survey.
- Software: For storing coding shortcuts, software idioms, file structures. If you have too many templates, create a separate project for each language.
- Specific Projects: For storing statements you use in specific types of projects. Create a separate project for each type: real estate, specifications, contracts, reports, etc.
- Temporary: For storing snippets of text and other items you need on your current project, but not permanently. Delete the templates when you're finished.
KwikText manages the files that go into your projects. You don't have to worry about where or how they're stored. Each project can have its own array of templates, selection lists, import files, subject lists, session lists, session records, and a variety of preference files.
Create a new project by simply giving it a name. Select an existing project by selecting its name from the project bar drop-down list.
After a project is selected you can select other items, like templates and subjects, from lists associated with that project.
