7. Click and Paste

KwikText can be used like a clipboard. Save words and phrases you commonly use, then click and paste them as needed. You can paste wherever your computer accepts typewritten text: email, instant messages, chat sessions, computer forms, web site boxes, database input, and word processing documents.

This feature is especially useful for long numbers, words containing foreign characters, complicated sentences and website addresses.

Using the prior template as an example, here's how to click and paste the Visa credit card number into a web form:

  1. Click the "Clipboard" button above the Content Window. The button color changes to yellow to indicate that the Content Window is acting as your system clipboard. If the button is already yellow, no need to press it again.
  2. Click the KwikText template node you want to paste. The selected template node is highlighted and the text to be pasted is displayed in the Content Window.
  3. Go to the web form and click where you want the text inserted.
  4. Press Ctrl-V, the same way you would press capital V, except use the Ctrl key. The text is now inserted. The clipboard text stays in the computer's memory, so you can insert it as often as you wish.
  5. To insert some other text, click on any other KwikText template node and insert using Ctrl-V.

Explanation: When the Content Window "Clipboard" button is selected, the Content Window provides direct access to the system clipboard. Whatever is in the Content Window is available for insertion in other software programs. You can change what's on the clipboard by selecting another template node or editing the text in the Content Window directly.
