11. Outer Commands
Outer Commands are added at the end of a template node entry. In other words, add Outer Commands after the template node's content, or after the label if the node has no content. Outer Commands are enclosed in angle brackets just as Inner Commands are.
Here are commands you can use outside template blocks.
- < file = xxx > Inserts the contents of the file xxx. Use to insert larger blocks of text, or multiple paragraphs into documents. To create or modify a file, click the "Edit" button, then click "Edit File".
- < template = xxx > Inserts another template into the current template. If you have several templates that have similar nodes, you can put all the nodes into a separate reference template. When you click on the node, the reference template will be used. To create or modify a template, click the "Edit Template" button.
- < mark > KwikText will automatically mark all the nodes that contain this command when you click the "AutoMark" button. Saves time when you are creating lots of records, especially if used in conjunction with time and date stamps.
- < mark xxx > When you click a node that contains this command, KwikText will also mark the node labeled xxx. Use so you don't forget to handle another section of the template. The other section of the template might, for example, contain billing codes.
- < jumpto xxx > When you click a node that contains this command, the cursor will automatically jump to another section of the template, labeled xxx. Use to choose alternative paths when selecting template nodes.
- < bold > Displays node's content in bold font. If you are using collect and paste, this won't have any impact. If you print from the Composition Window or export the using "rich text format" the bold font will be retained.
- < show > By default, a parent node label is not displayed in the Composition Window even if it is marked. If you add this command, it will be displayed. Also by default, if a node contains both a label and a context, only the context is displayed. If you add the show command, the label will be displayed (and sent to the clipboard) also.
- < hide > By default, child node's content is displayed in the Composition Window when it is marked. If you add this command, it won't ever be displayed. Use this to hide directions or instructions, for example.
- < solo > By default, you can select as many alternative as you like under each category. If you want to limit the number of selections to one, add the solo command to the category.
- < share > By default, a list of alternatives belongs to only one category. If you want to the alternatives to apply to any one of a group of categories, add the share command to each category.
- < punctuation > This command lets you override the normal punctuation that KwikText inserts into your documents. There are a variety of alternatives, discussed in the How To section.
